2017 Biggest Décor Trends So Far

I’ve always had people tell me that following trends can be tricky, especially when it comes to home décor. Indeed, a home is designed to last for decades and not months. Home décor trends usually last for only a few months at a time. Following the latest trends will mean that you may need to update your décor as the current trends fade out.

So how exactly do you go about decorating your home while also following the latest décor trends? The answer is pretty straightforward actually. You can easily infuse smaller décor trends by making little adjustments to your space. And, for larger trends, you can do a little preplanning over a few months. This will help you decide whether you want to go with a trend or not.

Now that you have an idea of how to decorate with trends, let’s take a look at the biggest décor trends of 2017. You’ll find many of these trends to be easily implementable.

Tiled kitchen islands

Using tiled kitchen islands is a surprising new décor trend that is making waves all over the world. Not only do tiled islands look incredibly smart and chic, but they also are a cost-effective alternative to marble benchtops. And, I must say, I’ve been really impressed with some great tiled kitchen island designs that I’ve come across recently.

If you’re thinking of ways to give your kitchen island a facelift, you can blindly follow this trend. The best thing about this trend is that you can choose your tiles to complement the overall look of your kitchen. Moreover, you won’t need to break the bank or make an extensive renovation to create this amazing look.

Beige tones

Beige tones have always been a favorite with designers and decorators. The natural tone of beige allows it to complement an array of different colors and tones. Moreover, beige in itself looks incredibly classy and sophisticated, especially when it comes to home décor.

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that beige tones are making a huge comeback in home décor trends. In fact, many expert interior designers, including the likes of Jeremiah Brent claim that beiges are fast replacing the grays.

To add beige tones to your home, simply choose smaller accents and contrast them with darker tones. You can even add beige colored furniture or décor to create a captivating and beautiful modern space indoors.

Hidden rangehoods

Rangehoods are a very practical kitchen appliance and fortunately, modern rangehoods are designed to look great. However, if there’s one thing that’s better than a rangehood, it is a hidden rangehood.

Keeping a rangehood hidden out of sight allows you to have a clean and uncluttered kitchen space. To create this look, simply build a modern looking gyprock case to conceal your rangehood. It will allow you to create a subdued, albeit elegant look in your kitchen.

Monochrome spaces

Monochrome tones may have been touted as boring once, but 2017 is very different. I’ve noticed a sharp increase in the number of people going with monochrome spaces in living areas.

Monochrome tones allow you to create a unified look in your home. While you can certainly achieve a similar look with muted pastel shades, monochrome tones look far more captivating. Choose monochrome tones for your walls, ceiling and furniture to create a sober and sophisticated atmosphere.

Mix traditional with modern

Some décor trends keep repeating themselves and mixing traditional with modern is one of them. This age-old trend is based on creating a harmonized space using both modern and traditional elements. It can be used to create a unique look and make a bold style statement.

Creating this look is fairly simple. Grab some classic vases, jars and accessories and contrast them against modern furniture and fittings. Trust me – this is one trend which you can blindly follow and still get the best of results.

Hygge

Hygge is a Scandinavian movement (or lifestyle philosophy, if you will) which is increasing in popularity all over the world. This movement is based on creating cozy homes with dim lighting and soft textures.

By following this décor trend, you’ll create a comfortable space where you can savor slow living with friends and family.

Transparent furniture

Yes, you read that right! Transparent furniture is the latest trend to hit home décor this year and many people have embraced it gracefully. With furniture manufacturers offering transparent tables and chairs, this trend is already on its way.

Transparent furniture allows you to increase visual space in a room and make it appear larger. With a plethora of retailers stocking transparent furniture, you should have no problems in following this trend.

So, there you have it. These are some of the biggest décor trends of 2017 and they’ll surely be around for some time to come.
